Philosophy of Science

The prevalence of computational multiscale approaches in the sciences has sparked a number of interesting philosophical discussions, e.g. on the tenability of scientific reductionism, on the nature of scientific explanations or on the ways in which different theories or models are related to each other.

Recognizing that the RTG offers an exciting opportunity for addressing such questions in an interdisciplinary setting, exchange with philosophy has played a role in the RTG from the beginning on.
